It is with a massively heavy heart that my family must announce we had to say an unexpected and gut-wrenching goodbye to our son, brother and fiancé David Robinson (M 92-97) who passed away on 5th May 2022.
He was one of the kindest human beings and he will leave a huge hole in our lives and our hearts.
David attended Ranby House (90-92) and then continued onto Worksop where he joined in the family tradition of being in Mason house under the house master Mr John Driver. He was an enthusiastic student and loved all sports whist at school, he was lucky to represent the school in rugby, cricket and hockey and was very proud to become head of house in his final year.
We know that he was still in touch with some of the many friends he made whist at both schools.
After David left Worksop, he went on to attend Writtle Agricultural College where he achieved his degree in agriculture before embarking on a trip of a lifetime to Australia. He travelled the continent for a year before getting sponsored by a large family farm (90,000 acres) in Western Australia where he spent the next four years gaining massive experience in large scale farming. On returning home David took on the huge responsibility of running the family arable farm, which was slightly smaller than the Australian one. He and our father, Peter Robinson (M61-65) ran the farm successfully for many years.
David was always thinking of others and was a great listener. He volunteered at our local rugby club, in Boston as a coach for the youth team and they will be holding a cup in his memory, he was also the local NFU chairman, attending meetings and helping others in the industry. He was very well respected and had a huge friendship group.
David’s funeral took place on Tuesday 31st May 2022, at St Gilberts church, which is located on our family farm in Brothertoft, Lincolnshire and was attending by many friends and family who had travelled from as far a field as Ireland and Scotland as well as across the whole of England. We were touched by how far David’s love had spread as we received messages from across the world.
David was due to marry his fiancée Rachael before this tragic accident took him too soon. He will always be in our hearts and memories.
